How can hypnotherapy help me? A question we get asked quite often.
I remember I asked it the first time it was suggested to me many years ago. When I was in a bad space in my life. I am so glad that I followed through and booked four sessions. Not only did it change my life but it changed my career too. The best way I can describe how hypnotherapy helped me is that I found an inner peace. Of course, things still happen to me and go wrong. But I seem to be able to cope with it better.
Hypnotherapy can help you with many things from problems to feeling unhappy. Simply because the way we think and feel has a powerful impact on our lives.
The reason being that when we have a problem or find ourselves in a bad space for whatever reason. We cannot help it but we focus on it, we focus on the unwanted things in our lives.
For example when you are having money troubles and are struggling to pay your bills. You find yourself continuously worrying about how you are going to find the money to pay your bills. Your mind goes into overdrive. Causing you stress and when you are stressed, you find yourself noticing how everything goes wrong for you.
When you believe you are not confident in something. You may find yourself saying “I am not confident…..” This is reinforcing your belief and producing you not only lacking confidence but feeling unconfident.
Yes, there are a lot of self-help books out there saying that all you have to do is think positively. To a degree that is true. As they say “fake it until you make it”. But there is much more to just thinking positively. You have to feel positive.
The conscious mind and the sub-conscious mind work differently. The conscious mind you do have control of, even though you may not be aware of how to control your conscious mind. You can learn with practice.
How can you learn to control your conscious mind?
Your conscious mind is your thoughts, and you can choose to reject or accept your thoughts. If you are someone that finds it hard to take control of your thoughts and to slow them down. It may take you time and practise to find out a way to be in control of your thoughts.
- You can practise telling your mind to shut up!!
- Start counting numbers out of sequence.
- Every time you have an unwanted thought change the tone you are thinking in.
- Speed up your thoughts.
- Slow them down.
- Start singing.
These are a few ideas that may work for you.
Your subconscious mind works very differently.
Your subconscious mind works on emotions feelings. Hence why we can learn a fear very quickly.
